The records of your arrest exist forever out there. However, you don't have to let them exist where everyone can access them. A Petition to Expunge an arrest record can force the courthouse and police agency to expunge all the records of arrest from the official records.

Not everyone is eligible. If you were arrested and never charged with an offense or if you plead guilty and received court supervision you may be eligible for expungement after two years. Other offenses, such as certain drug felonies, require five years to pass before you are eligible.

Many people have something in their past, but that doesn't mean that information has to be accessible by everyone else.
